Visiting Chiang Rai in Thailand, the Gateway to Laos

What to do in Chiang Rai?

It’s always the same question that is asked by travelers in every city in Thailand or on the internet when we look for information on Google or TripAdvisor. In Chiang Rai, there are lots of little visits to make that will make your visit a wonderful stay. Chiang Rai is a city in the northeast of Thailand located not far from what is called the golden triangle. Visiting Chiang Rai with these 70,000 inhabitants is a slightly more peaceful moment. In the mountainous province of the same name, Chiang Rai is close to the borders of Laos and Myanmar (formerly Burma).

Activity in Chiang Rai: The White Temple

A temple that does not exist anywhere else in the world to my knowledge and which justifies your stay in Chiang Rai. The Thais call it Wat Rong Khun and it is located 13 km south of Chiang Rai built by a local artist called Chalermchai. This temple is a work of art inspired by the artist’s favorite universes from the 80s to today. This temple is recent unlike the others because it was built as a lasting tribute for King Rama IX who died in October 2016.
